Peter McCabe

Loss Control Consultant I

General, Healthcare NY

“As a Certified Athletic Trainer, the health and safety of those I work with has remained my top priority. My extensive knowledge of human body movement enables me to identify any movement compensations in individuals. By acknowledging and correcting muscle imbalances, performance can be optimized and susceptibility to pain and injuries can be reduced. It is my belief that safety extends outside the traditional workplace setting."

Peter joined MEMIC in 2024 as a Loss Control Consultant I, bringing over 15 years of clinical experience from various healthcare settings. He has a rich background in higher education, having worked at institutions such as Niagara University, Brown University, and Nazareth University. His tenure at Sports Medicine Concepts afforded him numerous opportunities to educate individuals on the criticality of emergency management.

Prior to joining MEMIC, Peter served as the Athletic Training Coordinator for Excelsior Orthopaedics from 2017 to 2021, where he provided leadership and supervision to over 15 Certified Athletic Trainers at multiple secondary schools in the Buffalo area. In addition to overseeing staff, he successfully organized several major athletic events, including the Corporate Challenge, 11 Day Powerplay, and Buffalo Bowl. During his most recent role as Safety Coordinator at Excelsior Orthopaedics from 2020 to 2024, Peter chaired the company’s workplace safety committee. His credentials include being a CPR/AED instructor for the American Heart Association, as well as an instructor for Stop the Bleed and naloxone administration.

Peter's dedication to promoting workplace safety extends beyond conventional roles, as evidenced by his completion of a 16-week Citizens Police Academy with the Amherst Police Department in 2023. Furthermore, he holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Athletic Training from SUNY Cortland and a Master of Science in Health and Human Performance from Canisius University. His commitment to professional development is evident through his completion of OSHA-10 for General Industry and OSHA 511.
