Safe Patient Handling part 2 with Rob Sylvester and Laurette Wright
Episode #25 | Published August 3, 2020
From slips and falls and musculoskeletal injuries to quality of care issues, safe patient handling and mobility poses challenges to caregivers across the world.
According to OSHA, in 2017, nursing assistants had the second highest number of recordable musculoskeletal disorders (MSDs) cases with more than five times the average for all industries. OSHA attributes these trends to repeated manual patient handling activities. Just having a program on the books is not enough.
In this episode, Laurette Wright and Rob Sylvester, both Safe Patient Handling and mobility experts here at MEMIC, join me to explore a SPHM program’s components and what makes them succeed or fail.
