MEMIC Promotes Barden to Director Corporate Communications
PORTLAND, Maine, July 17, 2017 – Workers' compensation specialist The MEMIC Group has announced the promotion of Kelly Barden to the position of Director, Corporate Communications. She is responsible for shaping and projecting the corporate image and brand identity and overall reputation for MEMIC’s many stakeholders.
Barden started at MEMIC in 1998 as an intern through Southern Maine Community College’s Maine Career Advantage initiative. She was quickly hired full-time as a Communications Assistant, promoted to Communications Specialist in 1999 and then Communications Production Manager in 2012.
Barden graduated from the University of Southern Maine with a bachelor’s degree in Communications and has earned her Workers' Compensation Professional (WCP®) designation. She has served on the board of the Maine Public Relations Council since 2006 and is the Immediate Past President. She is also a member of the Communications Committee of the American Association of State Compensation Insurance Funds (AASCIF) and has served on the board of Portland PROPEL.
