PORTLAND, ME, August 13, 2018 – Susan Diffenderfer of Juniata County, PA and Thomas Brennan of Philadelphia have been hired as Safety Management Consultants by workers’ compensation specialist The MEMIC Group to support continued growth in the Pennsylvania and New Jersey markets.

Diffenderfer is a licensed Physical Therapist with nearly 30 years of experience in industrial health, geriatric care and wound care in a wide range of settings including home health, acute rehabilitation, skilled nursing, personal care, outpatient and hospital. Prior to MEMIC, she has been a facility rehabilitation manager as well as a regional rehabilitation manager for a large contract provider and taken an active role in education, training and quality assurance including on site in-service programs, one-on-one caregiver education, high school programs and regional conference presentations.

Brennan has more than 20 years of occupational safety experience in the manufacturing and insurance industries working on a wide array of safety and health issues including OSHA compliance, industrial hygiene, ergonomics, safety training/orientation and accident investigations. He has effectively supported organizations in a broad range of industries including healthcare, hospitality, retail, transportation, construction and agriculture.

Diffenderfer graduated from Mount Holyoke College in Massachusetts with a bachelor’s degree in biology and psychology and from the University of Connecticut with a bachelor’s degree in physical therapy. She has held specialty certification as a wound care specialist and an emergency medical technician.

Brennan graduated from Indiana University of Pennsylvania with a bachelor’s degree in safety science and from Penn State University with an MBA. He has earned his Associates in Risk Management (ARM) and Certified Safety Professional (CSP) designations.
