MEMIC Bolsters Technology Leadership Team with Karl Lagasse Promotion and Jason Ennis Hire

Portland, ME – The MEMIC Group, a leading super-regional workers’ compensation insurance company, has strengthened its technology leadership with the promotion of Karl Lagasse to Vice President of Business Technology and the hiring of Jason Ennis as Director of Architecture and Innovation.

Lagasse Takes the Helm of Expanded Technology Operations

In his new role, Lagasse will oversee the Project Management, Software Engineering, and Quality Assurance teams while spearheading the newly formed Architecture & Innovation team. This team will focus on advancing MEMIC’s artificial intelligence and machine learning capabilities, positioning the company at the forefront of insurance technology innovation.

His expanded responsibilities encompass strategic planning, project delivery, and accelerating business solutions through application development and low-code platforms.

Since joining MEMIC in 2021, Lagasse has been instrumental in modernizing the company's core systems and ensuring technical architecture aligns seamlessly with business strategy. His two decades of insurance technology experience spans critical IT leadership roles across the industry.

Lagasse earned his Bachelor of Science in Computer Science from Wentworth Institute of Technology. When not driving technological innovation, he can be found on the golf course or coaching youth baseball.

Ennis Brings Deep Architecture Expertise to Innovation Team

Ennis brings 29 years of experience in IT, including 18 years specializing in enterprise, business, and technical architecture. He has held key leadership roles at several insurance companies, including Enterprise Architecture Manager at MMG Insurance, Technical Architect at Unum, and Enterprise Services Manager at Wolters Kluwer.

Ennis holds a Bachelor of Business Administration from the University of Maine at Presque Isle, with concentrations in Management & Leadership, Project Management, and Information Systems. His credentials include a T.E.A.M. certification from the National Association of Mutual Insurance Companies (NAMIC) and multiple Microsoft certifications, including Azure Fundamentals, Azure AI Fundamentals, and Azure Developer Associate.

Outside of work, Ennis pursues his passion for outdoor adventures, particularly mountain biking and skiing.
