Dates Announced for 2004 MEMIC Comp Summit
July 30, 2004 | Workers' Comp Issues, Corporate
PORTLAND, Maine, July 30, 2004 – Workers' compensation insurance specialists Maine Employers' Mutual Insurance Company (MEMIC) and subsidiary MEMIC Indemnity Company have announced that the companies will host their annual MEMIC Comp Summit on November 11 and 12, 2004 at Sunday River Ski Resort in Bethel, Maine.
The 8th Annual MEMIC Comp Summit is a two-day conference about workers' compensation issues open only to MEMIC customers. The program is free of charge for customers and is intended to provide educational information regarding workplace safety efforts and claims management for employers and their managers.
This year's MEMIC Comp Summit will be highlighted by keynote speaker Terry "Moose" Millard of Southwest Airlines. Millard is a Southwest pilot and cancer survivor who will offer his thoughts about the successful workplace culture that his company has created. While many airlines have struggled in recent years, Southwest has enjoyed great success while providing a satisfying environment for its employees.
The conference will include sessions on ergonomics, motivating employees, back injuries and the prescribing of narcotics in workers' comp cases. A national economist will also provide attendees with his forecast for both the national and regional economies.
The MEMIC Comp Summit is attended annually by approximately 500. Business owners, human resource directors, chief financial officers, safety directors, workers' compensation administrators and safety committee leaders are among the attendees.
The conference is free but attendees must pay for their lodging. Registration for the event is required. Registration will be available in mid-September at www.memic.com.
